Coral reefs are not just corals, they are a complex but fragile system of species that live together and depend on each other. Coral reefs are easily the most sensitive area on our planet. Therefore, they are predicted to be the first system to collapse in the face of warming waters, changing ocean chemistry, and deoxygenation of the oceans due to our greenhouse gas emissions. This rollout was previously predicted to be fully operational by 2050. The consensus of those gathered in London was that we need to change this date, move it up, as this latest mass bleaching event has caused the biggest coral die-off in history.adinga Ding Liren made history by becoming the 17th FIDE World Chess Champion, defeating Ian Nepomniachtchi in the last game of the rapid play tiebreaker. After three draws in the tiebreaker, Ding emerged victorious in the fourth and final game, claiming the title. In a tense and even position, with only a minute left on the clock, Ding declined a triple replay and decided to play on to win the match and duel and thus the Jundo Championship. In a heart-stopping ending, with both players under enormous pressure, the Chinese grandmaster beat Ian Nepomniachtchi in 68 moves. After an exciting 14-game duel at classic rhythm, the score was even at 7:7 after 14 games. Therefore, Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren had to duel in rapid games to break the tie and to determine which of the two was to be the new World Chess Champion. Despite having to hunt down Nepomniachtchi's advantage three times, Ding Liren showed tremendous skill and stamina to come back and ultimately won the tiebreaker. Instead, Ian Nepomniachtchi's nerves and luck faltered, causing his second loss in his bid to win the world chess crown. He had previously failed in the attempt in the duel that he disputed with Magnus Carlsen. A historic success for Ding, who would not even have participated in the challenge, had it not been for the voluntary withdrawal of Magnus Carlsen who did not wish to defend the title again. The former World Champion, Magnus Carlsen, congratulated Ding in his own way: "I'm quite relieved. The moment Ian gave up was very emotional for me. I couldn't control my mood or my feelings. I know myself: I'm going to cry and I burst into tears...", said the emotional Ding Liren in his first statements. Ian Nepomniachtchi congratulated his rival. Reflecting on himself, he said: "I think I had every chance [to win]. So many promising positions came up... It's always a lottery after 14 games, so that's it!" It is the first time in history that a Chinese player has been proclaimed World Champion in the open category of chess. China now holds both the women's title of World Champion and the senior category. The two players will distribute the prize pool of two million euros, of which 60% will go to the new World Champion, Ding Liren.
